From a Starving Failure…
But Michel Fortin’s highly sought-after copywriting skills did not appear overnight. In fact, they stemmed from a burning desire under circumstances that would have made him, by all accounts, an unlikely candidate for becoming a top-selling copywriter.
Born with a minor physical disability, his abusive, alcoholic father simply could not accept that he "failed." So to him, Michel was a failure. As a result, Michel lived a secluded childhood in an attempt to avoid his father (and the rest of the world) as much as he could, and fought an overwhelming fear of rejection and agoraphobia. (Luckily, his father is now institutionalized with an alcoholism-related mental illness called "Korsakov's Disease.")
One day, a quote inspired him. Do what you fear and the death of that fear is certain. What better way is there to fight the fear of rejection than a profession in which people get rejected all the time? So Michel plunged into the world of sales in order to face his fears head-on. But being on strict commissions, his lack of sales and therefore income forced him to file for bankruptcy at the still young age of 21. (One of two times, in fact.)

Fueled by his unique ability to write persuasively, Michel finally discovered the key. He began to write ads and salesletters in order to attract qualified clients to him — and not the other way around. That way, he no longer had to be rejected. Writing lead generation letters was his entry into the world of copywriting that would forever change his life.
The result? In just under a year following his bankruptcy, Michel Fortin became the top sales producer for a Fortune 500 Canadian company, winning awards and sales contests. In 2006, Michel married Sylvie Charrier. Sylvie is the owner of Workaholics4Hire.com, Inc., one of the Internet’s most prolific outsourcing and project management firms. Together, they own Success Chef, an online training system for marketing online.
